In late 2010, I pitched my editor Kane Webb and creative director Paula Guajardo at Arkansas Life Magazine a photo essay highlighting people of interest with whom I wished to interview with my camera and curiosity. I sought to learn about real people who make up our worlds of other, while giving them a voice that was their own. Together with producer Caroline Zilk, we created an exploration in portraiture and documentary which sought to learn about others in a respectful and beautiful abandon to the natures of each other.
Our subjects were Arkansans but I have always wanted to expand this to include a broader group of Americans. All compositions were done with intention to the 1:1 format, in black and white, and on a full-frame digital camera.
